Special Forces Jump Into Stanley Park

 

BARNES AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, WESTFIELD, Mass. – The public is encouraged to attend the start of this weekend’s air show activities when the Black Dagger U.S. Army Special Operations Parachute Team is scheduled to parachute into Stanley Park, Westfield,  Friday at 2:30 p.m.

The Black Daggers Team is composed entirely of volunteers from the Army Special Operations community. Members of the team have diverse backgrounds and various military specialties. The team represents professionalism and dedication to the Army Special Operations Forces.

The Westfield International Air Show, in conjunction with the 104th Fighter Wing Open House at Barnes Air National Guard Base, is set to take place this weekend, Aug. 12 and Aug. 13.

On both days of the air show, parking lots will open at 6:30 a.m., and security gates open at 8 a.m. Performances start at approximately 10:30 a.m., and continue throughout the day until 4:30 p.m. More detailed information and FAQ’s can be found on the air show website, www.westfieldairshow.org.

The 104th Fighter Wing is equipped with the F-15 Eagle. One mission of the 104th is Aerospace Control Alert (ACA), providing armed fighters ready to scramble in a moment's notice to protect the Northeast from any airborne threat. The unit is responsible for protecting a quarter of the nation's population and over one third of the Gross Domestic Product.
